Enjoying Community Sports

About a year ago, I started working really hard to get my family more active. We started spending a lot of time going through and enjoying community activities, and it was really fun to see how much better our lives were. I could tell that all of us were losing weight, having more fun, and really living it up. I felt great, and I could tell that I was becoming a better parent because of things like community sports and recreation programs. This blog is all about getting out there, having a great time, and really enjoying your life with the help of physical activity.

Ready To Take On The Big Game? How To Ensure A Successful African Hunting Trip

If it's finally time to mark the African hunting trip off your bucket list, make sure you get the most enjoyment you can out of the experience. Hunting big game in Africa is unlike any other experience you'll ever have. That's why it's so important that you take the necessary steps to ensure a successful trip. Take a look at the list below. Following the tips provided here will help you make the most of your African hunting trip.

Be Willing to Listen to the Pros

If you're going on an African hunting trip, be willing to listen to the pros. You may have years of experience hunting in the US, but you're still going to need plenty of advice once you start hunting in Africa. The professional hunters that are with you on the trip will have a wealth of experience and knowledge to provide you with. Following their advice may mean the difference between a successful hunt, and one where you come up short – or even empty-handed.

Practice With the Shooting Sticks

Once you start hunting in Africa, you'll discover that they use something known as shooting sticks. Shooting sticks are basically three sticks lashed together to form a tripod. They'll take some getting used to, so be prepared to spend some time practicing with them. Once you get the hang of your shooting sticks, you'll find that they really come in handy during your hunting trip.

Avoid Using Unfamiliar Rifles

If this will be your first African hunting trip, avoid using this time to try out new rifles. You'll have plenty of time to experiment with new rifles once you get back home. However, when you're up against big game in Africa, you need to know that you're familiar with the rifle you're using. The last thing you want is to miss a shot because you weren't prepared for the handling on the rifle you're using. Make every shot count by using the rifles you're comfortable with.

Pay Attention to Your Trophy Fees

When you book your hunting trip to Africa, it's important that prepare for the additional costs that you might incur. Some of those costs include the trophy fees. Those are the fees that you'll pay for each animal you take down. Trophy fees can add up quite quickly. If you're not paying attention to your kills, you could end up owing more than you were anticipating. To avoid a bad case of sticker shock at the end of your trip, be sure to pay close attention to your kills. That way, you'll know exactly how much you should owe for your trophy fees.
