Enjoying Community Sports

About a year ago, I started working really hard to get my family more active. We started spending a lot of time going through and enjoying community activities, and it was really fun to see how much better our lives were. I could tell that all of us were losing weight, having more fun, and really living it up. I felt great, and I could tell that I was becoming a better parent because of things like community sports and recreation programs. This blog is all about getting out there, having a great time, and really enjoying your life with the help of physical activity.

Options To Consider When Investing In Rifle Scope Rings

Accuracy is a must when it comes to competitive or recreational shooting. Many shooters choose to add an optic scope to their rifle in order to increase accuracy and improve visibility while in the field. These optic scopes can be costly, so you want to ensure that they are securely attached to your rifle using the right scope rings.

Quality scope rings will prevent your optic scope from slipping or experiencing any inconsistencies in accuracy. Consider the following options as you determine which scope rings are best suited to meet your shooting needs.

Consider the type of split.

Scope rings come in two split-type varieties: horizontal splits and vertical splits. If you are trying to maximize the stability of your scope, then you will want scope rings with a vertical split.

This split type allows both halves of the scope ring to be secured to the rifle body as opposed to just one-half of the ring being secured when using rings with horizontal splits. Doubling the connection points helps to increase stability and prevents your scope from slipping or shifting during use.

Consider the type of screws used with the scope rings.

Scope rings are affixed to the body of your rifle using a series of screws. No matter how durable the rings themselves are, the wrong screws could make your scope mounts weak. As you evaluate potential scope rings, look for models that feature Torx screws rather than Allen-headed or slotted varieties.

Torx screws can provide a much tighter grip without running the risk of stripping the threads on each screw. These screws maximize the strength of your mounting system to provide better protection for your pricey optic scope.

Consider the size of your scope.

If you want to achieve the proper scope mount, you will need to invest in rings that match the size of your scope. Ideally, an optic scope should be mounted as close to the barrel of your rifle as possible without the barrel and the scope actually touching.

Depending on the size of the scope that you will be using, scope rings of varying heights are available on the market. A larger scope will require taller rings to achieve the proper mount, while smaller scopes need shorter rings to maintain proper spacing.

Adding a scope to your rifle can be a great way to improve your accuracy as a shooter. Be sure that you are investing in the right scope rings by considering the split-type, screw type, and ring height that will complement your scope best.
