Water

A big problem guns is always going to be moisture, or any type of water. The barrels are blued or stainless, but they still can rust. Wood stocks are always finished with a nice polish, but the stock can still swell if it is exposed to water. If you have a composite stock you will never have to worry about your stock swelling up on you. The material is an extremely tough and water resistant material. So, if you are going to be hunting in a wet area, a composite stock may be the best way to go.

Scratches

While a classic wood stock gun can become extremely scratched over time, a composite stock is much more scratch resistant. Most of the time when you are hunting you will be sneaking through the brush or stalking that trophy. So, it stands to reason that your gun can come into contact with a lot of the brush or terrain. This can really scratch up a normal wood stock. A composite stock is going to be much more resistant to these types of situations. Many of the composite stocks simply will not scratch unless the gun is mishandled. 

Color

There is no doubt that a classic walnut stock is absolutely beautiful. However, if you choose to get a composite stock gun, you are going to have a lot of choices. The regular black composite can look very classy, but you are also going to have the option to get your new gun in different camouflage patterns, and even in different colors. You can really make your gun pop with personality with all the different colors and patterns that are available on the market. A composite stock can simply make a fantastic hunting firearm for years to come.
